Where?

"SØRLANDET"

Our house in Bergsmyr

Sørlandet is the southern most coastal area of Norway. It starts in the province Telemark, with Kragerø in the east, and runs via Aust and west Agder towards Flekkefjord in the Rogaland province in the west. Since it is not a real province, but more of a region there is some debate to where it exactly starts or ends. Sørlandet is a quite densely populated area (judging by norwegian standards that is) and is a popular holiday destination for many norwegians, both summer and winter.

Due to its location, close to mainland europe, and the mild climate, there can be found a large variety of industry in this region. It varies from woodproduction, ship building, offshore, import and export to agriculture,

We decided to move to Tvedestrand mainly because of its central location, the variety of stores and the possibilities for the children. Tvedestrand is also known as "bokbyen" (booktown).  Similar to Haye on wye in Wales and Bredevoort in The Netherlands this shows by the abundant amount of bookstores in the city centre.
